Have not had contact with him yet. From what I understand he he far more right than Mr. Cannon, but do not know on the moral "free-agency" issue with regard to poker. Not that he has much chance of winning but the Democratic nominee, Benion Spencer, is against online poker, but thinks the UIGEA should be debated as a stand-alone bill, on its own merits, and should not stand as it was passed. Hopefully we can get at least that much from Mr. Chaffetz. I will see how soon we can get into see him. Drew Lesofski may be able to help me there.

This letter is now moot, as Mr. Cannon lost the Republican Primary last night. I will be contacting the Republican nominee, and maintain contact with the Democratic candidate as well.

I am the Utah Director for the Poker Players Alliance; an organization with over 1,000,000 members nationwide.

The PPA recently asked me to publicly endorse Mr. Cannon to our Utah membership. Based, in large part, on a recent letter I received from Chris I had to decline.

Our Executive Director, John Pappas and our National Grassroots Director, Drew Lesofski have both assured me Chris is working to protect the rights of poker players on the internet. However, the letter Mr. Cannon sent to me was very clear in the position that poker and wagering by responsible adults were destroying families and were societal ills.

Mr. Cannon's Democratic opponent, Bennion Spencer has taken the time to speak with me personally. While he and I do not see 100% eye to eye on the subject, he has been very forthright, open-minded, and honest. Mr. Spencer has agreed to speak to me at anytime.

I respectfully request that Mr. Cannon contact me so he can clear up his position on poker, internet poker, the right of adults to wager their own money be it on the stock market, games of skill such as poker, or otherwise.

If Mr. Cannon does indeed support the rights of poker players I will be more than happy to endorse him to the PPA Utah membership as a pro-poker candidate.

I am having a hard time believing Mr. Cannon is in our camp based on the letters I, and other PPA members have received.

Sincerely,

Chadler E. Cowles
Poker Players Alliance State Director
